A SORT OF DISCLAIMER
Note that these photos were all shot with a reasonably priced mobile phone, and by a non-photographer who doesn’t even own a real, dedicated camera.
They’re unprepared shots on-the-go, from the hip, no adjustments was done to the default camera app settings, or prior to taking any pictures, save for some occasional playing around with the light slider, and sometimes forcing a different focal point for the auto focus. Mostly, they’re simply observe, aim and shoot. The 13 megapixel camera that is the rear camera of my Galaxy J5, has a certain reputation for being quite temperamental depending on the lighting conditions, which I think has proved to be no understatement.
However, in my opinion, its obvious shortcomings can actually be exploited in interesting and hopefully successful ways; a small adjustment of the light slider in the camera app can sometimes produce surprisingly dramatic and quite linotype or serigraphy like effects.
In front of the 13 megapixel chip sits a fixed-focal 28mm lens, which I guess is ok, and an aperture with the f-stop value of f/1.9 – which translates to shitty depth of field.
All pictures are straight out of the cam – no post editing was done, but a handful has been cropped to a smaller section.
The motives are mostly from my relatively near surroundings in the county of Telemark on the South-East coast of Norway.
